* A Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to Spartanburg County School District No. 7!
It is a pleasure to work with students, parents and teachers as we join to enrich 7,500 of the greatest minds in South Carolina. As the district progresses toward its goals this spring, please remember we need each parent and resident to be a part of this journey.
Since becoming your superintendent last July, so many wonderful things have happened that we can be justifiably proud: District 7 was one of seven school districts in the state (out of 85) distinguished by the SC Department of Education as exceeding the national SAT score; Spartanburg High School's AP program was recognized by Newsweek Magazine; District 7 partnered with the City to renovate Duncan Park; construction of new state-of-the-art athletic facilities on the campus of SHS has begun; and the Viking Boys Basketball Team was named Region II AAAA State Championship Runners-up!
We appreciate your interest in your students, staff, school, and district. On behalf of the entire District 7 team, we look forward to this spring school season with optimism, enthusiasm and a tremendous sense of confidence that together, we will work to inspire our young people on to more success.
I am honored to serve in District 7, the school district of choice in the Upstate.
Sincerely,
Thomas D. White, Jr.

Daily Announcements
We are blessed to have a great pool of talent in this district. Over the past several months, the district has talked a lot about innovation and creativity, and the desire for more parental choice. We are happy to announce three new principal assignments that we are certain will help District 7 reach its goals.
This year our principals have studied model programs in school districts throughout the county that are offering choice. Recently the Board of Trustees adopted procedures for providing parental choice in District 7. Several schools in the district have already identified special programs for parental consideration. For example, District 7 will have modified school calendars with extended year instruction at two schools, single gender classes, an International Baccalaureate program is being developed and Montessori is offered, to name just a few examples. Other schools are developing special programs as well and those will soon be announced.
One of District 7’s most distinguished principals has requested and been granted that opportunity to form a new school as well. More...
